Default OMG car insurance

Just got my renewal through from Privilege which is due at the end of the Month for £560! It was £330 last year and I've gained a years no claims lol

Direct line want £712! They're not on price comparison websites you know, so charge twice as much as the ones that are! Crazy!

Luckily Admiral only want £324 and will repair my windscreen for free, something Privilege wanted £10 for!

For reference I'm 29 with the mrs as a named driver (24). Car is a '98 mk4 golf TDI 110bhp at £2500. 12k/pa mileage and living in HR6.

I hate insurance companies with an absolute passion. They are the least regulated industry out there, seemingly given free will to do as they please without repurcussion. Everyone harps on about banks, but what have banks actually done that affects the average person. Insurance companies affect every single person out there but they never receive bad press grrr

+1 for admiral. My son is 23 with just 1 years ncb and will pay just £707.39 for his imported MR2 GTS turbo with mods at 300bhp which I think is group 20 with his 21 yr old sister added for just 80pence. Last year as anew driver his policy cost hom £1060
last year car ins companies paid out 95p for every 100p taken in. On top of that they had to pay wages rent etc

Car insurance has rocketed big time.

In the past iv ran group 20 insurance Bmw M3's and at the mo im running in a cheap 206 gti. Insurance renewal for me 32 and 9 years ncb was coming in at £700, i got it down to a more reasonable £500, but its still extortionate.

My mate was ripping me big time, he is 34 and drives a shitbox fiesta 1.3 , and laughing at how much mine has gone up, his renewal came thorugh a month later for £650.. Never laughed so much in my life ha ha..

£560 is nothing, i am looking for my first car at 17 and the cheapest quote on various comparison websites for a 1.2 fiesta is £5,100 and thats third party only!
