For me you may as well buy something decent to begin with.

If you dont its likely you'll want to replace whatever you buy fairly quickly.

Id buy used as its cheaper and most of the depreciation has gone out of it - which means if you get bored you can sell it for very similar money.

Shanks gives good advise, but it's also worth seeing what people at your local club are running so that you can get help with setups, spares support, etc
