TRF Spares in the UK......

Hi all,

We need to look at what interest there is from UK owners of TRF models in getting there spares from a UK stockist.

The benefits of having spares in the UK for such products is good, those needing spares don't have to wait up to 1 week for spares to arrive and they can be delivered next day in most cases.

The downsides obviously are higher prices compared to HK/Japan, remember we have to pay postage too and VAT on whatever we bring in.

Would these spares be bought from The hobby Co?, if so, i cant see it being a reliable source.

I think people would do both dependant on the urgency. I've just come back to the hobby after 5 years out, and can not believe that there are not shops at meetings, which means you need a good spares reserve. I spoke to the hobby company about supplying me with spares for a trackside solution however unless I have a shop there not interested.

I also spoke to Schumacher about tyres and got the same response.

I of course could import a load of TRF spares and sell them at meetings, as could anyone else.........

I'd buy parts from the UK as simply I can't always afford to put in a big order of spares/upgrades from HK/Japan, to make the shipping worth while.

It's not to bad for me though as I run the Durga and most of the parts are available from a couple of UK stockists already.

However, they don't always have reliable stock levels, which i guess is related to The Hobby Co.! If you had a regular supply of bits in I'd most likely use yourselves for spares, and not being far from me probably travel to your shop.

I would probably still look at ordering kits from abroad though!

I would still buy from the East. I understand that shops have to go through all the proper channels so the prices are higher and I like to support UK shops where I can, but when I can get parts dam near half UK price its a no-brainer really.

There has been the odd occasion where Ive had to buy in desperation but its a very rare thing.

I'm lucky enough to run two cars so if I need a part I don't have I can take it off the other car and bang an order in later, And it helps that I carry alot of spares anyway, which Ive been able to buy lots of because theyre cheap.

Its a catch 22 really.

I would. I also shop my spares in the far east, but UK shops are closer and quicker. If the shop stocks a full parts list (INCLUDING the alu parts!), then I dont mind the extra cost.

I would like to say yes to any UK stockist. The service from HK etc is now very reliable and the cost with delivery is fair.If the service is reliable and stays that way then id suspect more people would stick to UK people. Service is more important sometimes than cost
