Default weakness damper rod ends and gears?

Hi, was racing this weekend on a rough clay track for 1:8 buggys. With large jumps, then teh rod end on damper popps off without breaking some thing. this happend to the champ pack dampers and the new big bore. Are the rod ends plastic soft or the hole not tight enough? non of the durangos, B44 or others manged to do that. did break the diff gear to.. make a snapping noise in accelaration. we shimmed it tighter (new gears ) and losend up the slipper a bit.

thx

Ball links on the shock shafts haev never popped out on mine (Bigbores) and the stock diff spacing has been perfect (no faillures or even wear on the gears!). Try a new ball link on the shock shaft (don't reuse the old one). It should be fairly tight when you screw it on.What went wrong with the diff? You didn't go into details... Broken gear? Stripped teeth? What shimming were you originally using?

Both of these breakages probably came from the track. It had huge jumps made for 8th scale, and when I say huge, I mean HUUUUUGE!!!

If you miscalculated(which we often did), it was a 5m fall to the bottom of the landing, if not more.

What was a bit weird was the shock links that broke, these were the originals, and one would think something like an arm or a tower would break, not the bottom link.

As for the shimming, I used the stock with one shim pr. side, but when I put in the new gears, I put both shims on one side. Probably this broke due to many adjustments with the throttle when trying to land straight, and a way too tight slipper, but it's better now

Well honnestly, the arms and towers on these buggies are incredibly tough! But why the shafts pulled out is weird? Unless the threads were weakened in advance... ??? Mine are tight, but not super tight... And they work fine... I've broken a shaft (collision), but never had one pull out before...

I have seen this on a few B-max's at EPR track, I have never had one pull out on my B-max's, but I have heard some people are using B44 shock rod ends with good success.

ust for info, the AE balllinks stick out under the arms a bit. I had to fit one in an emergency and had to dremel off a tiny bit of the link so it wouldn't catch...
