Default ESC location

some are mounted in front of the motor or mounted behind the servo

is this just a choice thing or is there a balance issue?

mines behind the servo but it's coming out for replacement so may just mount it in front this time round

I run mine in front of the motor but only to make it easier to get the slipper out if I need to as you don't have the motor wires running over the front propshaft. Neatness wise it's better to have the speedo on the servo side but it makes the car harder to work on.
I've run the speedo in both places and not noticed any handling/balance differences

as you found out @ Batley when you set up the diffs & slipper for me

may mount it in front this time round for the reasons given above
