funny you started this thread as I was just going to start one when I heard someone with a zx5 had put a durango diff in.
I was wondering if whoever knows the guy who did it, could supply with some more information regarding the conversion. |

Yes, it's possible, but only on a FS, I'm afraid. I didn't tried the mod as I find the stock diffs really good with quality balls.
A Norwegian chap made this mod. so thanks to our friend SHY, I asked him how to do it. That's what he wrote : Quote:

thanks for that!
I just ordered the diff joints, they are fairly easy to get off ebay. now to order a new FS kit. |

![]() Probably something to do with mating the pinion to the rear shaft on the older cars where the shaft also supported the slipper. TBH I can see no point in this at all. As has already been said when you have quality balls in the Kyosho diffs there is nothing to beat them anyway (Kyosho ceramic in my cars now ... how nice are they!!). Before people jump on the maintenance bandwagon I re do my Kyosho diffs maybe twice a season and often find I can reuse all but the thrust washers!!! |

Maybe it's something to do with the diff casings/housing, aren't they different on the fs?

![]() ![]() Thanks![/QUOTE] i am loving the geared diffs thing . for buggys. seems like a great idea just a thought on the sc side of things how about the hyper 10sc diffs casings and drive gears. they really are bombproof reckon the scrt10 ones would work to. nice project make sure you post pics ![]() |

![]() A pic of an early prototype. ![]() The one leading the championship has, as far as I know, Tamiya suspension arms and Yokomo big bore shocks instead of the ones in the pic. |

Oh well, we've seen that contraption been raced two weeks ago at the last race in Hyvinkaa. Didn't make it to the A-final... in a field of only 21 drivers. Not too impressed by it in a 1/10th track.
Anyway, enough OT, been thinking about getting a pair of those DEX410-diffs for a test.. we'll see how it goes on indoor astro. Riku |

I'm thinking about doing the gear-diff mod on my FS2... Nick, do you still run with them?
Thanks ![]()

Sure Nick will be along in a bit to explain fully but no, he fairly quickly went back to ball diffs as the gear diffs made the car super agressive on throttle .. net result slower around a lap.
