Default Just an idea...

Whilst driving into work this morning and trying to stay awake, I came up with an idea for a thread based loosely on "What do you do for a living?" thread that has been on here before.

My idea was that racers could post their job details along with a contact number so that fellow racers could support one another.

So now you are probably thinking, "What on earth is he going on about?"

Well this is my scenario...

After having some windows replaced in my house, it is going to need decorating along with the guttering, sofits and facias replacing in the near future. Now I know that David Church (DC) is a painter and decorator by trade and as someone who I have got to know through racing, he would be someone that I would ask for a quote rather than plucking a random company out of the phone book.

I am sure there are builders, plumbers, electricians and all other kinds of skilled workers who would appreciate the work from fellow racers.

Apart from meeting up in a field at weekends, we all have ‘proper jobs’ with skills to share. As users of this site, there is a growing community and we can all support one another with recommendations.

Hopefully I have not abused this site (Jimmy?) or the rules but this is one topic that I think would be really useful for all of us in our professional lives.

Thats an excellent idea. How would we do this though, just putting loads of details in a thread with make for hard reading.

Hey no go for it matt, when we've needed something before - like a legal form signing for example, we found it hard to find someone, and you never know there are all sorts at race meetings.

OK Jimmy I understand. I guess there are not too many solicitors directly involved in RC then!
Are you now saying that Dave Church is an Allsort?

Maybe it would be best to have it where someone could ask a question like "Does anyone know of a decorator in the ????? area that they would recommend?"

Another example was that through Chris Long, I got a a former RC racer to work on my full-size car whilst I was at the National at Bury Metro. Chris recommended me to him and it meant that the work could be carried out when I was racing.

Sorry to have caused any problems...

I used to be a dab hand at fixing the airframe side of Her Royal Navy's Sea Harrier FA2 and T8, but there isn't much call for that.....
