Best Brushless esc/motor combo? what to buy?

Hi guys!

I am currently running an LRP SXX TC esc in my DB01r together with a LRP Vector X12 7,5t motor. As i have had some problems with heat i installed a Heatsink plus fan but still the temperature is fairly high.
So as the new TRF201 will be released i will buy a new esc and motor for that (thinking of 8,5t) and want to know what you are running? What is the best stuff to race?
I always thought that LRP is withing the best but these heating problems keep me thinking if i shouldn´t try something new (Tekin, Novak, Nosram, Ezrun,...) for my new buggy... Only problem is that i have absolutely no experience with other brands than LRP.
What motors and esc are from the same quality as the LRP but don´t have any problems with overheating? The price isn´t really the topic, i want good quality stuff.

Hi Johannes

The x12 motors do seem to run much hotter than other manufacturers or even other LRP models. You arent the only one who has had trouble with heat if you read the forums.

My personal opinion is that the speedo will be fine, id just try a different manufacturer of motor for your 4WD car.

The Speed Passion V3 range are popular and have many titles under their belt. I have bought a SP V3 6.5 ready for my 201 when they are released.

Speed passion also make quality speedos too. I too use LRP/Nosram speedos and they have been good to me so ill stay with them for now and run SP motors

Ah i must ad that if i recall you said your motor got hot after "15 minutes racing" in one of your earlier posts? Was that right ? In truth, any motor will get hot after that long. As far as im aware the race motors are designed for maximum performance over a 5 minute race duration.

You can reduce heat by turning off any drag brake you have got set on the speedo and ensuring that you arent over geared for the motor. Theres other more obvious stuff to check like a free drivetrain but im sure youll of checked that already

Hi Rich, thanks for your advice on the Speed Passion motors. Now as i know it is not that strange for a motor to get hot after 15 mins of running i might stick to the LRP X12´s for the future.
Also i will check my brakes but i think these are stock as from LRP and i think it´s ok. Yes, you´re right, drivetrain has also been checked, it´s free This DB01R is just bulletproof
