Default So what have I been up to?

Well then, I've not been out to play with any toy cars (apart from a smelly borrowed truggy, whilst still drunk) for over a year now, so to keep me occupied over this time I've had myself a little project! I'll stress it's not taken me a year to do this, I've just been fiddling here and there with it and taking breaks of about 4 months between actually doing anything to the car!

Yep, I've joined the mid-motor brigade with my RB5, but I've done things a little differently to the masses.

Basically I've now got a flat plate chassis (cheapo lookalike CF from Fibrelyte) with the RB5 front end grafted on to it, and using saddle pack lipo, a la AC S2. Unlike the S2, I've got room for a standard servo with the receiver behind it!

Now, you're asking what about the main working area, namely the gearbox. I've basically got the motor running in its normal direction, and got it mounted to a Yokomo MX4/MR4 belt drive gearbox. This alows the ESC to be mounted on the opposite side (yet to get that done though, as I've no soldering iron )

The rear wishbones are mounted with the same inboard toe in as the standard RB5 kit, with Schumacher mounting blocks from the old Mi2, giving about 2' anti squat (I think). Up from there we've got a lovely new MX4 C/F shock tower and an old skool wire wing mount.

Body wise I've got a used X6 body on there at the moment (cheers Doddy!), but I reckon the Azarashi X6 body will go on too, and be a nicer shape and fit to the chassis.

Last thing to sort is a more secure fit for the bodyshell (namely an undertray or side clips such as with the standard RB5) then it's time to get a test run done!

Pics will follow at some point, when I can be arsed to get a camera out.

Right, as promised here are some pics of my creation.

Remembered a couple more jobs that need doing, need to make a brace for over the top of the back wishbone hangers, to sure them up, and make a top-deck for the front.

Apologies for the blurry quality, the dog was trying to eat it while i was taking the pics...
