Default Atomic Carbon CR2 takes Benelux Championship win!

This weekend Wouter Wijnen, Steven Verelst and I used the CR2 for the first time in a National (we have a combined series of Belgian and Dutch drivers) @ Charleroi, the first National of the year.

Not only did Wouter take TQ, all 3 of us made the A final, and the infamous Willy from Kampenhout qualified 20th out of 47 drivers (became 16th after the finals).

Wouter took a very deserving win by taking 2 out of 3 qualifiers, something he would repeat during the finals to take home victory for Atomic Carbon.

With us using the CR2 and Freud the S2, 40% of the A final was Atomic Carbon (Wouter 1, Steven 6, Jorg 7, Freud 10)

Front:
Blue spring, 30wt, black piston, 2mm limiters => tower #1, wishbone #2
-1,5° camber, no lead or brass bulkhead, 1 washer added under steering ball stud (adds Ackermann)
Camber links 2-A, 2 washers*

Rear:
Red spring, 25wt, black piston, 0mm limiters (AE rod ends, 1 turn unscrewed) => tower #2, wishbone #2
-2° camber, 1° anti-squat, camber links 2-B, 3 washers
Rudebits brass plate, 70gr lead under lipo (rear half of lipo slot filled with lead), 30gr extra lead around motor.
Long wheelbase
Wing: low and to the front

Gearing: 8,5T on 25/78 on new motor plate

*Wouter used 3 washers, Steven none, I used 2, adjust to your own liking

Tyres: front Schumacher Stagger Rib, rear Schumacher Mini Spike Yellow, the team used Mr.O and KWF inserts, used Losi ones are good too (the softer inserts made the car easier to drive).

OK, thanks. I have a few questions if you don't mind

Well I found the opposite With the "new" steering (with a rack), there is really little to no ackermann (front wheels are parallel when turning) and adding washers made it worse... May have to re-check that though.

Are the black pistons track-related (harsh landings)? Or is it you new standard setup?
Also, why the AE rod ends? More droop?

How do you mount rear arms? Swept back or forward?

Thanks!

Black pistons indeed for landings, but they also make the car very stable while turning. Since the astro was new and very grippy, this helped a lot to stabilize the car.

AE rod ends indeed give more droop.

What do you mean with rear arms? Wheelbase was set to long.

Personally I also made a mod to the front hubs. I dremel off some material so I can mount them more forward. So in fact I have a wheelbase adjustment in the front. Making the wheelbase longer in the front results in less wheelie effect, keeps the front flatter, adds stability. In fact you are making wheelbase longer, and at the same time you get more weight % on the rear wheels. Like it a lot :-D

Losi is short compared to B4, and very short compared to X6, so a little more length doesn't hurt.

Another way to put it would be to say the A final was 60% X-Factory

Or, in yet another way: 0% rear-motored

Or another way: 80% of all AC cars made the A.

See it this way: 80% of the drivers was driving the X-6, 10% was driving the CR2/S2. So this means 15% of the X-6 cars made the A final, while AC had 80% of their cars in the A

Flippo beat me to it

OK, now make the same calculation counting only non-sponsored drivers...

I think this is called 'a pissing match'
