Is there any reason I shouldn't put the diff balls in the inside holes cause the diff balls are on the very edge of the diff plate anyone tried the inside before ?cheers chris

Just don't do it.
There's a few reasons why you shouldn't; I think they've been covered in the Tamiya forum before. Quick search should do the job. ![]() |

do a search on diffs on the Tamiya forum. Several people have stated (me included) that if you buy more balls for the diff and add to the inner holes (so all diff holes are filled inner and outer) you will make a smoother diff and also improve the efficiency so less rebuilds.
Jimmy did state somewhere why you shouldnt use the inner hole but nothing relating to why you shouldnt use both.

Ok now I see where your coming from and yes I forgot about that - sorry. I found that as the diff screw in the 501 was so thin that I had the same funny feeling on the diffs when I added the balls so I ended up adding a kyosho screw, thrust race and nut and that resolved the weird feeling, but then again my car was a bit weird so could have been a one off badly made item. kustom chris Still after looking up diff info today every one is saying here the standard diff setup as per the manual seems to work fine as it is.
