Does anyone remember a schumacher kit based on the procat which came with a saloon body?
Just picked one up and want to convert it back to a procat to use in some retro races this summer and need to check which bits I will need... ![]() |

You mean the Schumacher RS 4x4.
I've got one http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_m...d=17109&id=297 (no surprise there!), all you need to convert it to a Procat is a body, undertray and tyres. Remove the saloon body mounts and the shock limiters from inside the shocks and you are done.

For a wing mount your options are
1) use some long bolts and spacers to screw the wing to the mounting point for the saloon rear body mount. 2) get hold of the old style wire wing mount and mounting hardware, as you can see here. Doesn't matter which car it's off, as long as it can mount to the shock mount. 3) buy another Procat or a Cougar1. Buying a worn out complete car will be cheaper and easier than trying to find someone selling the original wing mounts.

Yeah, like terry said, I’m not very good at describing this stuff, but, you can get either the plastic plate which bolts to the rear suspension mount, where the car bodyshell mount is currently (I think), then get the plastic wing mounts. I found this method quite fragile as it used rubber bands to attach the wing. Or, use the much better wire wing mount bolted directly to the suspension mount. Both normally turn up on ebay now and then.
By happy coincidence I’ve got a photo of both types. ![]() ![]()
