Is there like a rule of thumb to compare the performance of brushed against brushless.
ie, is a 11x2 pretty much the same as a 5.5 or something? I ran a 16x3 last night at club and it was great and I know when I go back to my 5.5 it'll be all over the shop. What brushless motor should give me similar performance? I was thinking maybe 9.5? |

I use the following approximate conversion:
Multiply the no. of brushless turns by 2, then subtract 2 to give equivalent brushed turns. e.g. 10.5T brushless gives 21-2 = 19T brushed. so for 16T brushed, you want to go the other way and add 2 then divide by 2 = 9T, so your pretty much spot on with 9.5T. Obviously this doesn't factor in doubles, singles, quad etc, but I won't lose any sleep over that! It's also worth remembering that lipos give more performance than we used to get with NIMHs, when comparing "old" technology with the new stuff. |

i run a 13x2 and its a tiny bit slower than some of the 6.5 you see however they just have more punch so a 6.5 is to much for the track

I thought as much. I kinda drag raced my dad and we were near enough neck and neck.
12x3 vs 6.5 both on 35c lipo's B44's |

yep the brushless just dont fade off during a night like brushed do after a skimm all is good also i would say the intitial punch brushless has is also a big factor
