My off road club is on the look out for an old skool amb20 system to bring it into the late 20th century at least, preferably the whole shebang.
If anyone hears of such an item going for a song, let me know. Will probably need software to run it also, any recommendations? Thanks in advance

With regards to softwre, have a look at rctiming.com, or google 'laps free'. It will save you any expense on software..

Hiya, We may have an AMB20 system up for sale soon. I'll get our race director (Sidcup) to get in touch.

As Chris says, we have an AMB 20 system that we haven't used for about 18 months since we went over to AMBRc. The system comprises of Decoder, Charging rack, 10 rechargeable transponders, Loop, and power supplies.
I haven't tested the batteries in the transponders for some time, but when we stopped using the system they were all OK. If not then the batteries can be replaced at relatively low cost. I will put the transponders on charge and check them out. I will post pictures of the system if you are interested in it. As for software, I totally agree with Dazzler. We've been using Laps Free for about 5 years. It's accurate, rock solid and relatively easy to use once you get your head around it. Cheers Phil (Race director, Sidcup Radio Car Club) |
