On 4s or higher cars/batteries what connectors are you guys using between the esc and cells? I am using losi ec5 but they take ages to separate they are so stiff!?

When I needed to change batteries in a final I used Losi EC5s. I think Deans don't quite have a high enough rating for the bursts in 1/8 use.
I now use 6mm gold tubes (6mm Corallys), though they aren't polarity protected, and there are two wires to pull out/reconnect rather than one connector. Stick with the EC5s, it may be worth plugging them in and removing them loads of times as they will free up over time. |

My second problem is the undoing of the 3 Velcro straps, looking into improvements there too! |

Firstly, use two velcro straps, it's definately enough, and secondly, it's the gold tubes themselves that are tight, not the plastic block.

Deans ultra work fine with 4S. Losi is crap...

The Losi EC5s are fine, the actual connector itself (the gold tube) is perfectly fine. They buy in some 5mm gold tube connectors, and have moulded a case for them.
There have been cases of Deans melting under the extra stress of 1/8 scale use. Also, voltage is not what causes a connector to fail, it is current. As current increases, resistance increases which causes the temperature of the connector/wire to rise. This causes the plugs case (plastic) to melt. The more surface area you have in contact, the less resistance, and Deans just don't really have enough of a contact patch. |

Deans are fine IMHO
we have been testing the new kyosho VE car but it has 2 x 2s so we have 2 deans connections each on 7.4 volt. Are you running a single 4S pack? If so i would consider the 8MM gold Orion connectors aimed at the flight guys. |

I am actually running a 5S pack (single), though have also run 6S and 4S (all single packs).
I have always used either EC-5s or 6mm Corally-style connectors. |

I favour deans as ive never had any issues.
