Ko Universe/KO297 FZ - Compatible
Is anyone using the above combination with any success ? I tried today and either they aren't compatible or someone from here sold me a duff receiver
  The 297FZ is the early 40 Mhz receiver, not to be confused with the 301 and later 302 types. Cheers !

You can, you need to change the transmitter from ultra to normal response.
