Default I fancy a Cat...

Just got back into RC after a 15 year gap and have caught the bug again after racing my Losi XXX-CR at EPR a couple of times...I now fancy a 4WD too so I can get into the action as much as possible, as I think all at EPR would agree I need the practice!!

There have been several Cats at EPR and I really like the look of them. I had a Procat as a kid so I like the idea of having another schumacher, and I also like the fact I can use my lipo sticks rather than needing to buy new saddles...

Looking on here, it looks like I'm best off getting the composite S1 as it looks great value for money and should be plenty for a novice like me. I like the idea of the chassis having more flex than c/f too and so making it easier to drive.

So i can get an idea of 'real' cost of buying one, could anyone suggest any particularly necessary spares to get aside from the normal wishbones, shock towers etc? As for extra bits and bobs I need to set it up... I'd be looking for an easy and driveable set up at first (not super-dialled) - and I'll be mainly driving it at EPR, so astro/concrete, couple of jumps, few bumps etc. I've read on here that the stock setup is the best place to start, but can that be said for all tracks?

Given my experience, I'm not one for drilling extra piston holes or sticking spacers everywhere as I'm not consistent enough to notice tweaks yet. Can anyone suggest a decent easy set up that just involves changing springs, shock oil, shock positions etc that will be good enough while I'm learning the feel of the car?

Cheers

Cheers for the link... Does the s1 version respond to these set ups in the same way as c/f version? And are all of these adjustments possible on it?

Dom,

only difference between the S1 is the material used for the chassis and steel vs. titanium hardware. Same hardware, etc. It should respond about the same setup-wise.
