is there much roll when turning when the batt is like that? I'm concerned about that. I still haven't run mine yet.
anyway please let me know. I might have to breat apart some shotgun packs that are really awesome and I don't want to. thanks sean |

There is going to be more roll.
Is that a bad thing, sometimes yes, sometimes no - Jim's looked every bit as good as Chris' last week with the cells in that config. Roll can generate more grip. Will is suit an individuals driving style?... Only one way to find out. The X-6 is a new toy for alot of us this summer, it would be too easy to just copy a set-up from Chris/Dan/Ellis and run with it without trying stuff. I'm gonna' run the car (it's actually Jimmy's car - from the review) pretty standard this summer, as a kind of on-going review, I'll publish what I think - so far its all good. G's not gonna run his X6 standard, he's got all kinds of crazy-shit planned, radical chassis mods, hump packs, single cells in bizzare places....... ![]() I beleive he's even considering fitting a B4 gearbox the wrong way round - madness. Watch this space.

Well, from previous experiments (also hush-hush, eh, Northy ;-) ) I can say that when going from a conventional batteries-down-the middle to a 3x3 saddle pack lay-out, the difference in roll is: A) not too dramatic B) not too bad. It feels nice. A little less twitchy, but still responsive enough. 6 cells across would just be taking it one step further. IMHO, the X-6 needs more weight over the rear end. SO I'm with you on the experiment. I will be watching this space closely :-) |

I've just typed out al long reply but then thought "wait on Stu, that's all your best stuff, leave it for the report", so I deleted it.

![]() i think the 6 cell lay out like that (ABOVE ) wipes out some of the reasons why the x-6 is what it is. The cell layouts that are different and where the motor is for a reason i beleive the car should be run 4 x 2 only. i dont own an x-6n but i think it defeats the object of having that lay out of the 4 x 2........... well whats the point in having them all at the back, and not to run the 2 out front ? surely it makes a difference..

I have two experiences with 6 cells across the car.
The first is at the Euros where I couldn't get enough traction on low grip clay. It was worse with the 6 cells across the back, putting the power down coming out of the corners, the extra weight made it hang onto the corner more, causing over rotation. My other experience was way back in the summer, a nice chap from Bury (Alan???) wanted me to drive his home made XXX converted car which had 6 cells across the back. I really expected it to wallow too much on the high grip astro but it didn't at all really and was quite nice to drive. Now it wasn't sparklingly quick and the servo wouldn't hold full lock in a high grip turn so it wasn't a full evalutation. Also quite nice to drive doesn't necessarily mean fast, but we had no timing gear. Either way good skills Stu, are you planning to always run it like that???

I'll try it that way and the 4+2.
As Jim hints at above the idea has come from watching his car at York last week. As you know I am no setup-guru, I mainly made the plate 'cos I had a sheet of carbon that I needed a use for, as Damain has pointed out above.
