Question Micro-Z - Which Hop Ups ?

Hi all ,

Fairly new here.

I have just picked up a second hand mini-Z

It is a stock MR02 and I am now ready for some hop-ups

In the order of most important (i.e. which one I should do first) can you tell me what I should be changing on the car.

Thanks guys,
Spy

Hi,

I must warn you, customizing Mini-Zs is addictive and becomes quickly rather expensive
Anywayz...

Must-have :
- Carbon H-bar : tunable and much stronger
- Damper plate system : avoids vibrations, improves handling
- Front springs : tuning part
- Some small washers to lower the front end
- Tyres : I like GRP foams at the rear and PN racing slicks at the front (on a Kyosho-style track)

Good-to-have :
- Ball differential
- Steering knuckes with built-in camber
- Alloy motor mount

Not necessary :
- Center shock
- All the expensive and heavy aluminium bits

If you're looking for more HP, the Atomic Stock-R is quite amazing and works well with the stock ESC.
The ASF system (2.4GHz) has better electronics, specially at the steering : better centering, no glitches... Expensive though if you don't already own a Ko radio.

HTH

Thanks for a very comprehensive response.

I will look into the items mentioned (any recommended UK vendors ?)

Also, given they are not listed, do you not think upgraded ball bearings (eg Atomic) offer any improvement ?

Thanks,

Sorry, I don't live in UK, so I can't help you for UK vendors. I buy my stuff mostly on-line (Dinball, Atomicmods, TRP... are good ones).

I bought my car second-hand and it was fitted with ball bearings. If your car comes with bearings too, I don't see the need to change them; but if it has bushings, well that's a good option for sure.

Mine is a stock/standard car - I don't suppose you know what they come with out of the factory - bushings or bearings ?

Well I don't know.

I forgot to mention good tools, you only need the correct screwdriver and the 4.5 hex driver. Buy also some metal nuts for the wheels, the stock plastic ones are crap
