Procat and gear - what's it all worth?!

Hi all,

I've decided to restart my R/C career after dabbling with a Tamiya Madcap and Schumacher Procat as a kid and teenager. I got the Procat out of my mum's loft today and took the electrics off it... I'm planning to sell it as it is (works fine, all though tranny, diffs etc. not dismatled for a very long time, and shocks need refilling) complete with original schumacher box and instructions.

I bought the Procat second hand with all electrics etc in around 1993, so I guess it was already a few years old - when were they introduced? Bosscats were already on the market when I got it.

I ran the car for a couple of years (mostly messing around and raced a couple of times). I never changed any of the equipment, so I still have all of the same stuff -

Tekin 310 Esc (anyone know about these?)
Futaba Attack R 40FM Tx (plus original old school box)
Futaba 103F Micro Rx
Futaba 148 servo (still crap and made today I see )
HPI Modified motor - no markings and I've never taken it to bits to see the wind.. very quick though

I'm contemplating keeping the radio gear for my new car whilst I keep a look out for a 2nd hand 2.4Ghz set. Do you think the Futaba Tx and Rx would have changed much in 16 or so years? I see they still make similar products...

Good to see there's a market for vintage stuff, so I'll probably put this all on ebay soon to try and get a few quid (I have a few random spares too like ball joints, turnbuckles, anti roll bar, springs, wheels etc). Any idea what it might all fetch?

I got my procat out of the parents loft a couple of years back and getting it working got me back into racing. Haved raced the Procat a couple of times and done ok with it - still fast on flat tracks but rubbish on anything bumpy / with lots of jumps.

Probably fetch around £70 on ebay depending on spec and condition, although it can vary.

If you are going to start racing again with a new car forget the old electrics, things have really moved on. Brushless / lipo and fully adjustable radio gear making it obsolete.

Cheers Medders... do you know if the procat came in different specs then? Pretty sure mine is just standard from the box/instructions...

Not different specs as such, but loads of mod / hots-ups etc. Graphic chasis, heat-sink motor plates, one-ways etc. You may find that some will prefer a standard as box model, yet some would prefer a heavily blinged version. Condition will probably have the most impact on the price you can get.

Its amazing what people will buy to put on a shelf .

My own view is that RC cars are there to race

I agree with medders that you will probably get around £70 for the procat on ebay,but it would be worth checking to see whether the car has the model motorsport diffs that were fitted as an upgrade back then, as these are quite rare now.

Thanks for the tip - what would be the give away if it was an upgraded diff?

Just sold on eBay for £165! There really is a market for this stuff... buyer might be on here. I suspected it was worth something when some cheeky swine offered me £50 to take it off after it had been listed for just 2 mins!
