Since tanking my little boy to watch indoor racing he wants a car!!!
So thought id ask if you guys have any ideas? Spec required:- 1) Big is better 2) He will mainly use it indoors so needs to be slow really 3) Was thinking of a rock crawler type vehicle as i guess they go nice and slow 4) Oh yes cost - need to keep this as low as possible cause i spent to much on 1/10th electric already!! even something 2nd hand would be fine... any ideas or anyone got soemthing they want to sell? cheers |

The Tamiya GB-02 series are pretty good, in stock form, slow enough for around the living room, wont break if he hits something, but can be upgraded. Also come in off-road or on-road guises too

Tamiya GB-02 is also a small car - 1/18th buggy.
1/10th-ish rock crawlers would be great I think, very slow, 4wd, lots of steering, reverse. Considered one for my daughter. The downside is that 1/10th scale has a higher starting cost, but the upside is that you can share electrics with your 1/10th race car. Perhaps the bubble has already burst for crawlers in the UK and you could pick up a bargain, I'm sure I saw the Yokomo crawler kit being advertised for £100 new on ebay, including ESC. Biggest problem with a 3-year old is finding a transmitter to fit little hands! My daughter is a tall 2.5 year old (wears 3-4 clothes), and she can't get her hands round the smallest transmitter I have seen, which is the Kyosho Perfex wheel from a Mini Inferno. Sticks seem even harder for small hands to get around. |

something like this would do. you can always install a slower motor like a 35t etc until he gets to grips with it. spares are cheap and readily available. it also shares the same chassis as the buggy version so a conversion would basically be a shell and wheels if he wants to race with other buggies.
