Default Decisions, decisions.

Currently own a ftx vantage and managed to muster up some money, only £80. No I have a choice, do I buy bits for my ftx or do I sell it get about £70-80 for it and buy a second hand Schumacher, losi or something else with racing pedigree.
Can you give me your opinion please?

Sell and get something better. You can pick a good 2 or 4wd buggy up for around the £150 mark.

Any suggestions? I would prefer a 4WD

As already said. Used buggy deals are 2 a penny.

Buy something with all the pimped up bits and let someone else loose a fortune lol.

Im selling on my b5m's soon and know im facing getting maybe 20% of what that lost cost to build new lol.

Keep eye on the for sale section here as bargains are more common here than on ebay etc.

If your wanting to race then check the club is active with 4wd. It seems like a very quiet class.

Agree with the others buy a good second hand competiton spec car even if a few years old, ideally with some wheels and tyres suitable for your local track.

Is there any brands. I should look for and avoid?

Personally, If I was on a limited budget i would stick with either Team Associated, Losi, Yokomo, Schumacher or Kyosho, and only because these are the best supported and popular brands (and probaly offer the best used choice and part availability in the UK). Other brands to consider are Xray, Team C, PR Racing, Serpent or Team Durango and while these are generally less popular, they are equally competitive.

Of course this is just my opinion.

Do you think I could pick a good one up for £100-140? Which model would you recommend?

I've got a B44.1 with big bore shocks I'm trying to shift if your interested.
Still make almost the same car, was hoping for about £100 inc postage.

Just needs a body, and set of wheels and tyres :-)

for 140 ish you are unlikely to get the latest K2 Schumacher but K1 aeros should be available as assoociated B44.3

losi 22-4 are ok too but not super popular
Xray xb4 excellent choice very tough currently 16 model is very good and new one out soon, save a few more quid and go for K2 or Xb4 16

support excellent for both

regards dave
