Default Minimum capacity shorty Lipo?

What's the minimum capacity shorty Lipo I could get away with for 4wd 1/10 for occasional club use and special events? It's for a vintage Schumacher with brushless 8.5T. I just want to own one battery so it has to charge between heats. Looking at the Orion or Absima range from Inside Line, especially the LCG low profile shorties. Is 3800mah enough? They say the current rating is 100C or over so could I charge these more quickly than 3.8A? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

3800mah is more than enough, you could probably do two races without recharging. I could do 3 races on my 4500mah shorty battery in a 8.5t 2wd buggy if I wanted to.

The 100c rating refers to the discharge rate NOT the charging rate. I'd guess that the burst rating so the continuous rating would be 50c which is normal for most new batteries.

I'd alway recommend charging at a maximum of 1c, so 3.8a for a 3800mah battery and use a lipo bag
Some lipos can be charged at more than 1c but that will shorten its life.

a lot of stock class racers are charging at 20 plus amps, providing your use the balance function there ok, mine are lasting better than charging at 5 amps
I have tried 40 amps and no damage to the cells infact it brough them to life. though id not use 40 myself
id recommend you get two lipo, will make your life far easier

Thanks for your replies. Opinions seem to differ on charging rates don't they. The 3800mah is lower profile and less expensive so that might be the one I get. Any thoughts on Orion vs Absima?

p.s. this forum no longer sends me email notifications to my subscribed threads, is there a setting I need to change or something?
