Default XXX-CR, 5.5 Sintered, no brakes!

Hi,

Just fitted it in my XXXCR with a 2007 Sphere and 5.5 sintered motor, and the brakes really suck. I like brakes, so for me this is no good.

It's geared on an 88 spur with 16 pinion (should be about right yeah??) on a 5.5 sintered X11 motor.

Slipper is tight enough.

I've checked the stupid stuff like the wheel nuts being tight enough and the wheels hex's not being rounded (I've had this problem before!).

Also I've checked that the tyres aren't skidding and just losing traction.

Any ideas?

The FET's in the speedo you mean? Well they could be knackered I suppose, but the motor stops quite aggressively under no load.

The pots on the tranny are all fine - no probs with other cars with identical receivers and servos.

I'll have to give it thorough going over tomorrow in the light and test it properly in the street.

Would you say the gearing is ok anyway? This shouldn't make a huge difference to braking anyway though.

I run 23/78 on a 78 on a 6.5, not sure what an 88 would be though, around 20 would be right?

Have you checked the speedo settings? Could be a dodgy motor i guess.

Motor should be fine. The sintered rotor is relatively new too and it's never been allowed to get so hot that it weakens the magnets.

Will open it up to have a look though.

Unfortunately you just have to keep trying things until you find out the problem. Ive had a practically new Novak motor keep cutting out so just becuase it's fairly new it doesn't mean you wont have problems.
