Default k1 keeps overheating my motor

Hi this is my first proper 4wd buggie.
I got it yesterday secondhand with a hobbywing 120a speed controller and a 10.5t motor an it cut due t over heating.today I put in my speed passion controller an 7.5t motor and it just keep cutting out/overheating.Seems OK just going round half throttle but when you start to open it up etc it just overheats/speed controller cuts it off.
I tried a thew different pinions an non made a difference.
The belts feel tight but I don't if they are over tight

Check the gearing against the motor manufacturer recommendations.

how tight?
maybe try loosening them off a bit? tight belts can cause overheating.

hi jamesscott32

Try to remove the pinion, turn the spur and feel for it´s free or some is to tight, if its nice and free, then it might be your ESC/Motor thats the problem

Also, if it isn't the belts it would be worth checking your drivetrain is nice and free and not having strain from say a bust bearing etc.

With the kit spur there's little choice of what pinions you can use. I run a 6.5 on a 22 pinion but if you're trying to run larger then it could be the mesh is too tight.

I was running mine and over jumped a jump landing hard causing the motor to move slightly causing the mesh to go slightly tight. After the run the car was stinking hot, nearly cooked the motor.

I run the belts loose if if they're like banjo string then that will be a contributing factor.

is your speedo running boost and turbo?
that will cause overheat and only effect on full throttle, right belts are right on any throttle position
