Default PB Maxima?

Anyone remember them? My mate had one and an earlier PB car which had a two speed gearbox but I can't remember the name of that. They just seemed to disappear.

That was the Mini Mustang, PBs first adventure into 1/10th off road available as 2 or 4wd with single or two speed gearboxes. The Maxima was a refined version of the Mini Mustang. 10th off road was a competitive market, the Maxima was the same layout as the big two buggies (Cat and Mid) so no obvious reason to buy a Maxima over the others. PB changed the design radically with the Maximas replacement the Ace, with a rear mounted motor layout that all the other manufacturers had abandoned 4 years previously. it didn't sell, so PB dropped 10th buggies and stuck to 1/8th scale cars then 1/5th cars until they closed down around 2000. Keith Plested (owner of PB) now runs KP Designs building 1/5th bikes.

The mini mustang was ok I seem to remember it not being the toughest car on the track. I remember beating the ones at my local club with my Boomerang.. so I dont suppose they were that fast either..
