Default Required option parts for a yz-2

hi all.

I'm thinking about getting a yz-2 (currently have a b5m with a low rider gearbox) and was wondering what option parts are good to get? I know lots of people highly recommend and highly recommend getting the bmax 4 arms and the bmax 2 driveshafts, but is that the only main one worth getting? I know there are Gill wing front arms and a ball diff and under lipo weights etc, but are things like those worth getting? Also, are there parts of the car that wear out or break easily? Thanks in advance for your help!

You don't need options. Only thing is springs. But you can use Asso springs as well. That's up to you.

Ok thank you. Just reading through the past few posts, lots of people say the different rear arms and shafts really improve the car. Thanks for your help

Yeah I just got a YZ-2 myself for the first time and was wondering the same thing. I got the Bmax4 rear arms and B2 drive shafts. Gull wing front arms and shock tower also. And the 30 degree front hinge pin block. going to machine up my own delrin shock pistons as they are always out of stock. And make my own alloy wing buttons also.

All in the aim to take the twitch out of the car. I hate twitchy super reactive cars. Coming from a kyosho RB6 and that thing is so hard to drive its too twitchy. Cant tune it out just the nature of the beast. (This is on carpet) Seems to be the way everyone is going though which sux.

The associated ones that come in the B5M kit are a perfect fit, rather than machine some up.

I haven't bothered changing the front or rear arms although some stiffer springs are essential for high grip. I also prefer the ball diff which I'm running everywhere.

This is a very tough car. Things I've broken so far are several left rear arms (not all my own fault haha), bent hinge pin, front bulk head, rear hub.

Make sure you thread lock everything or you'll be tightening the hole car after every run.

It really is very good out of the box.

You will want stiffer springs if you are running outdoors on astro and a bit of weight under the lipo made my car even easier to drive (same with most cars).

The rear bmax4 arms and dogbones made the car better for me - bit more stability without any noticeable loss of steering. They are not a necessity.

I tried the front gullwing wishbones and shock tower and to be honest could not really notice any difference to lap times or feel of car. Possibly need a better driver who can feel more subtle changes in set-up? I have left them on car as did not notice difference but won't replace if I break one, will just go back to standard.

Edit: forgot to mention, this is outdoors on medium grip astro.

Springs and weight, two of the best things you can add to this car. I also run the Bmax rear end mind, but TBH its not a necessity.

Don't worry yourself about who's running what. Get the car, build it and run it. You'll love it. In the near future you start changing stuff but it's not needed.
