Welcome Kropy
With so many talented painters on here - are there any ideas to help organise / improve things for the painters?
A dedicated paint forum? sticky threads for pro-painters or eve sub forums for pro-painters?

Question

Hey Kropy...

Well it looks as if I'm the first customer in the questionas and answers

I've been painting shells for friends and myself for years, I've been using a sticky backed plastic for the masking, recently I've run out of masking film... I've tried several different brands of sticky films, but the problem I'm having is the glue is being desolved by the thinners in the paint(Pactra), so when I remove the maskings it leaves a sticky mess, this can be removed (although it's a right pain!!)...

Here it comes... What masking medium/film do you guys use?? Also I presume you cut most of your designs out on a die cutter?? I use a good old scalpel and patience...

I've attched a couple of images of recent shells, please cast your expert eye and give me any advice or feedback, good or bad...

Cheers

JIm

Jimbo!!

Didn't realise you painted shells.

I cut ALL my designs by hand. None of these new fangled plotters....yet.

I use Fasmask now. Did use Divelys but its costing just about as much now, and the quality has dropped recently.

I always used to use Tamiya masking tape before. The cheaper non-descript stuff always did what you mentioned and left gluey deposits behind, requiring a carefull bit of clean up with the meths.

Jimmy, sub sections for each of us would be cool and easier for people to find each painter.
Seeing as its advertising for each of us, I'm sure we all wouldn't mind doing you a favour, wether its advertising oOple on our sites....as I already do . Or making regular donations.

What do ya say fellas?

hey...

Thanks for the replies!!!

Next daft question, where do I get the fasmask or divelys from?? plus I asume you apply the liquid mask to the whole shell, then how do you create your designs??? using a blade/scalpel, then rub off the unwanted masks??

Thanks

JIm
