Default Tomy Intruder EX

Here's my runner Tomy Intruder EX with original hopup carbon chassis and towers and also lightened motor mount + kose red alloy driveshafts.

I love the Tomy cars, the EX is the top of the range 'competition' version of the 3 Intruder models.

I think I have such a love for Tomy cars probably because there's zero chance of any rerelease but also as they are actually really well designed...from a manufacturer better known for baby toys.

I'm rubbish at painting but took my time with the masking tape and rattle cans - also too scared to use my uber rare new in packet EX decal sheet so I scanned it and used my new vinyl cutter to make some templates - all logos on the shell are painted. Oh I also copied the original shell, wing and undertray - what you see here are my own repros, vacuum formed at the local high school - the original are safely in the kit box.

The eagle eyed may notice the front bumper has been cut down - I'll fit a full size one once I can source one (if ever!)

I'm using Yokomo hubs and wheels simply because I use them on my Mid, XLS and RC10 so have more choice. Also more modern Kyosho velvet shocks as I like them

Hope you like it.

Dan

Another nice car, Dan, you've been busy lately.

What makes the Intruder so well designed?

Just the design and feel of it Henk. A lot of Yokomo inspiration in there for sure.

The Yokomo felt very different, understeered a lot whereas this had more steering and felt more alive on the track. Seems that they took away the bits they didnt like and improved from the Yokomo. One of these managed to pass me on the in field at an event on carpet in the 90's and to do that against the car I used which is twitch city was very impressive.
