Hi all,
I see in the ZX6 manual that the diff gear is still part no LA200 but the bevel gear is now black and part number LA372. I was wondering if anyone knows if the new bevel gear is the same size as the old one and can be used on the ZX5?? Both are 16 tooth so I assume they might fit, as the white ones are a bit of a weak point. Can anyone help? (one for you RogerM, please) Thanks Brett

Yes, they are the same size. I believe this is the same process Kyosho made with the 2WD, making the idler gear more resistent by using a better black plastic.

Additionally you can transplant the whole of the ZX6 pinion assembly in to the ZX5 gear case, I've done this to my DB2.
This gives you a steel input cup and a steel pinion shaft too = bullet proof! As for the white ones being a weak point it is only when people didn't shim them properly, there must be ZERO fore/aft play on the pinion shaft. I often ended up with 2 shims behind the pinion after the bearings / bearing carrier had bedded in. Hope that helps |

Not off the top of my head, not memorised the ZX6 parts yet but the manual is online.
As for the shims they are just the shock 5mm ID shims like those fitted as standard and to the axles. |
