Hi All,
I've been email Jonathan at Atomic Carbon and he is willing to produce some modified rear shock towers for the DB-01 that can run the TRF 501X shocks without all the associated problems with their extra length. The only downside is that to make it economical enough a minimum order quantity of 10 is required. I haven't got a quote at the moment as that will all depend on the final design/quantity ordered. Obviously, I'll have one but are there 9 others of you out there that are interested? If you are can you add you names to the post and then I'll go back to Jonathan. Cheers, Ian

I've just dropped Jonathan an email asking for a rough price, when I know - you will too!

I've just had news on a rough price back from Jonathan.
The price (based on being made from 4mm carbon fibre and an order of 10) will be in the region of £10 - £14 each + postage. The firm price from Atomic Carbon will be known once drawings have been made and the exact area of CF is known per tower and also on the total amount of towers purchased. Once again, these prices are only estimates but will be formed up when the design is finalised and the quantity is known. If you would like once, please add your name to the thread so I can collate numbers.

I was hoping someone would make shock towers like these. Count me in for a set.

Has anyone noticed that the top mounting holes on the front tower are actually lower than the stock tower? I didn't notice until I compared the two on top of each other. Well, I actually only noticed when the chassis would not bottom out - I installed the newer HL shock bodies, used 4mm spacers inside the shocks & saw that the buggy bottomed out on the lower spring collars, and the chassis still sat around 1 cm above the table! The difference between the holes of the towers is maybe 2mm, but once on the buggy it made a huge difference. So I've switcvhed back to the stock tower.
There might be enough room to drill one or two new holes above the stock hole locations - I may try it, the part is not much use to me otherwise. FYI - I'm racing on carpet indoors. Maybe it's not as noticeable on dirt where more travel is used? Comments? |

I used to use one of these on my DB01, the extra droop was very useful, but agreed, indoors on carpet it might not be too handy.
I think the lowered shock tower was with the kit shocks in mind, which were arguably too short and didn't give enough droop. I ran the lowered shock tower and the TRF shocks with success. |
