Default Hobao H2 Pro Anti Squat and 5 deg front mod...

Hi folks.
My first post here.

I built the above buggy a little bit 'blind' - so I'm building a second one with hindsight!

I was just wondering if somebody can explain to me

1) The pro kit has a 5 degree taper wedge (optional) which effectively adjusts the angle of the front arms. The thing is - which way should it go, and what are the effects? Thick end at the front, making the angle more severe, or thick end at the back making the front flatter?

2) Anti squat blocks. These are not detailed at all in the manual. I simply picked some that fitted and wedged them in there but apparently, they have a purpose. Can anybody explain to me how these should be fitted and again, the effect they have.

Finally, I noted when racing with some of the big boys that the turn in and grip they appear to have on the surface (carpeted) is immense compared to mine. Their front ends just turn in so sharply, ang grip. The back end just follows.

No idea how they achieve this but I'm trying to learn. My H2 is set up as per the manual. We always race on carpet. Suggestions please???

Thanks.

Rob (UK).

Hi I've not seen an h2 close up, at a guess the 5 deg wedge would give you 25 or 30 deg front kick up, depending on orientation.
25 being less of an angle, giving more initial steering into a corner and less on power or out of a corner.
30 deg being more of an angle and would be more calm entry to a corner with more on power steering.

As for the anti-squat, (leading edge of the rear wishbone higher than the trailing edge so put it simply) your user manual should give you some options from 0 deg (flat) to maybe 3 deg, this will change the rotation in the corner or pivot, start with 2 deg and forget about it.

As for the other cars going around with ultimate grip, look at their cars, they will probably be running a different chassis lay-out to you. your car is a more traditional lay out so it's a great all rounder, don't worry about it if you're just getting started.

Hope that helped

Ref the cornering, do you have a budget servo? Do you have a servo saver?

I have a Spektrum servo in there - not a cheap servo at all but I did notice it seems quite sluggish - Im contemplating putting a fast Alturn into this one.

Remember the plan with this buggy is to fix the issues with the first one so it's a blank cavas therefore all input it greatly appreciated at this stage.

This may well become a h2 build thread!

Have a read of the Hobao section on here:

This thread has lots of useful info in it ref anti squat

http://www.oople.com/forums/showthre...ighlight=Hobao

To beef up the car I would get some losi 22 caster blocks and hubs and the rest is pretty good, great little car for the money

But is there a servo saver?
