LRP VTEC LiPo 5100 saddle pack

LRP sent us news of their new saddle pack lipo. Along with the huge capcity and high discharge rate, the lipo also features a low profile to fit most cars. LRP say 'ALL' saddle-formation off road cars are a direct fit - though the pre-wired link wire could be a little short in some cases from the looks of it.

Surely tamiya connectors aren't the best then, I remember melting one backing the day of 1400's

there is no 'industry standard' high amp power connectors, the Taimya connectors act as 2 functions

- stop the wires shorting out in the packet
- allow Jonny RTR to use the cells straight out of the packet

That'll be for discusion by the Electric Board (probably at AGM time). I would have thought it will be left at 5000mAh, as it's down to the construction of the cell and Lithium content (my understanding anyway)

Actually, looking at the photo again, it does look like the case might be the same transparent blue plastic as the 5300mAh stick pack.

The wording made me think they were heat shrinked not hard cased but I could be wrong (and probably am)
What's the idea of the capacity limit? At the weekend I was taking about 1000mah out of the cells in a run in 4WD with the Trakpower 3200mah saddles. Obviously this would be more outdoors on a bigger track with more grip - but surely no one would ever use 5000mah in off road?

I thought it was something to do with snakes on a plane... on no, hold on, sorry, something about the amount of Lithium per 'cell' thats allowed on a plane... at least thats what I thought I heard...

looks like heat shrink to me, if you go the the lrp web site and look at the images you can see the edge of the heatshrink

i think it has something t do with mah and c rating the higher the mah the lower the c rating can be to get the same max or adv amp so a higher mah and higher c rating the better thats my understanding of it.

I have managed to get the 3200mah trackpowers pretty hot on a high grip track using a 4.5 and almost dump them . I think around 4000mah capacity or a higher C rating would be good, and pretty much cover any motor / driver in a 5 minute race.
