Default any 2.4 transmitter guru's about ?!! please help

Hi , I've had a futaba 3gr for about 18months ( bought 2nd hand on here ) also had 2x frsky receiver and they've always ran faultless ..

Was at torch yesturday , when a few of us has issues , mine started as i put the car down trackside , got up on the rostrum , and realised my car was'nt there , got off the rostrum and realised my car was upsidedown about 10ft away from where i placed it !! , assuming it was the receiver i swapped it out of my other car .

Attempted to go out for a practice , switched it on and it started steering and revving , turned it back off and thought wtf , by then it had come apparent that someone elses car had picked up a signal and gone off track ( also on a futaba 3gr 2.4 , who has had a simular problem at another track ) we then realised that both our transmitters would interfere with each others cars , soo we waited for each other to have a practice etc ..

all was good untill round one , switched it on just before the start of my heat , and it crawled onto the track , my mate was using a futaba 3vs ( was in the heat before )and has also had the same issue before was still racing at that point , soo i went off and swapped the receiver again !! got 3 laps in and it was fine..

i did accidently swith my transmitter on only to set my end points etc , and it seemed to have interfered with the other car on his practice lap ( sorry james , causing his car to go off the jump ) mine was fine for the rest of the meeting , altho my mate who was in the heat before , i made sure he had finished and turned off , before i switched mine on etc )

As i said mine was fine for the rest of the meeting and afterwards , using both "suspected " receivers and both cars were fine ..

but the other car , was doing well in his a-final , with a minute to go , and his car went off again , , but both mine and my mate's transmitter were both switch off ..

As i said i've had mine for 18 months , and its been faultless , gets used twice a week , done the EOS national at torch last year , with 100+ entries on both days , done a indoor series with again over 100 entries and mine was fine ..

Sorry for the long story , but has anyone else had any issues before .. cheers shaun

Have seen similar with CORE codes and Spektrum's. Everyone advises power caps but this is as you say interference as if 2 TX's are selecting the same free frequencies? It turned out my Spektrum RX and another guys Code TX were to blame we swapped each out and haven't seen it since(fingers crossed)

You may have bound at a track with other faast signals
Bind at home to avoid interference however it could be browning out reseting and taking the closest faast signal

the thing was ever since they were fitted to new cars or bound to new esc's ,they've never played up and never needed re-binding ..

if it helps , everytime it played up yesturday , it gave a little blipp as soon as i switched the tx and rx on .., but anytime it didn't blipp it was fine throu out the run

i've never used a power cap , can these help ?

cheers shaun

People at our club have had problems with Frsky receivers (they're cheap for a reason). Don't even get me started on the Code or Etronics transmitters. I've used the genuine Futaba receivers and not had an issue yet. Mine will be over 2 years old now.

The only thing that I can suggest is buy genuine receivers and completely reset the transmitter so you're starting from scratch.

a stupid thing worth trying is select a new model memory and reprogramme a new "model" im sure I ve read it somewhwere before

(it may not cure anything but its worth trying and its free

im not sure the rxs are at fault for one to fail is possible two is more unlikely and so far they have given faultless service

using spectrum flying I have odd "switching on issues " its usually cured by switching on car/plane first and tx second

it goes against all previous practice and I don't know if its frowned upon but as the rx is only looking for its "bound" signal it shouldn't cause any problem (be safe to try at home first with car on a pit stand )

it would be good to refit original rx and see if fault surfaces at a local meet if it can be replicated regulary your looking at a fault somewhere

early futaba2.4 air sets had issue a whole batch were coded identically and if wto local flyers bought similar sets from a local hobby store and flew together you could fly each others plane (at at a time when it was thought impossible ) its a rare scenario but it happened

regards dave

ok thanks for your help , i appreciate you say about the frsky receivers , but yesturday was not a massive meeting 40-50 odd peple , soo not as much as a risk as the bigger meeting , that ive been too before..

and ive used these frsky receivers from day one of getting the transmitter soo 18 months or soo , always been spot on and never even needed to use a failsafe etc ..
