Default Call me a Mardave fan...

Great racing tonight chaps!

And I think I've found my fave car, the diminutive GRP rectangle performs so incredibly sweetly!

My qualifying was awful, uncharged battery pack hence the 7th down the grid But I can't fault the little car, I've never driven an RC car that performs quite so wonderfully.

The final was so much fun, battling it out with Charlie was a blast!

Once again, I can't speak highly enough of the Mardave, such a simple machine; no suspension other than chassis flex, caster and ride height adjustable with simple washers. What can I say, I am a convert!

It was quick .. my spares have arrived but I had so much fun with my vw bug that I'll think Ill keep at it with it .. may get some foams as they seem to be the fav in the clubman at the moment...

Not my best finish, but almost go it where I want it handling wise and I so enjoyed the look of it going round ...

Good night lads, clubman rocks - for the most close racing ..

What were the final results?

Scott.

If I remember rightly, I came 4th and Charlie 3rd. 0.3 secs apart or something like that Will check tomorrow, took a pic It was SO close between him and me.

I think Mr Petch 2nd. Can't remember who came 1st, one of the F1s I think.

Well Scott, I might join you in touring sometime with the TL01 Last TL01 roller I bought I paid £7 for. It would be nice to see how the £7 chassis performs against them Schumachers

It was a lucky 2nd for me Gui - may have been helped by being knocked over the track markers (I did at least wait for the car I was behindto come through before setting off again - I think!!)

Think Lee won with his F104.

Big thumbs of to Mr Martin Smith for his excellent track design skills - lets have more of them mate

cheers chris... next time we will actually stick to the track plan that is printed and not changing the track because someone thinks its too fast, track designs are thought out with saftey in mind not just what experienced racers think would suit them..... if you dont like the track plan then pack up your stuff and go to another club (very politely put).... on a lighter note i had some good close racing with everyone last night and id like to think that my 9t motor didnt take the piss too much being offset with the kit tyres i was running. great night last night... its just a shame about all you foam running faries.....

What spec was the Mardave? I might join you with one next Friday, or maybe even my own creation. Did you run 2s or 1s?

One of these: http://www.mardave.co.uk/rc-car-kits...duct-1729.html

I'm using a Mardave diff and good'ol fashioned NiMHs. Pretty old and worn out 6 cell stick packs too, 2200s which take just about enough charge for one race Oh, also using Contact tyres, not the ones that come in the kit.

You might struggle for traction if you were using lipos - heavy nimhs in the middle will probably help keep the weight where it is needed.

No, an old motor from someone's stash of old junk. It is silver and says RS540SH on it, so I think it is a Mabuchi.

But has 4 slots as opposed to the two slots that most silvercans have... Looks similar to the G2 that came with the Mardave kit, same 4 slot design. I don't know how many turns it has, I've used it in my tourer and it is slower than a 21T sealed can... I would imagine 23 to 25 turn... Next week I'll run the G2... Or my silvercan if I find it.

PS: Whatever you put it let's drag race down the main straight and compare. My Mardave weighs a tonne for what it is, the old stick packs weigh a tonne. Then again, I have this wacky theory that the weight makes it nice and mellow handling, the "chassis flex" suspension gets nice and supple over 900g

PS: Just found me silvercan!

I'll work on a few others, I liked the anti-clockwise circuit we had a while ago. And "Crossfire" types are fun too.

Crossfire was a great layout - would like another diagonal straight.
