Default Off Road Club Hampshire

Hi All

Quite new to the RC Scene, but just wanted to mention a little club i have joined in Hampshire. More info can be found here http://www.torch-hants.fsnet.co.uk/. Quite a small club with really friendly people and a wide age range. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Thought i woulld give it a plug as the site isn't the easiest to fine on the web

Cheers

I think they have been there for about 6 years, but they do maintain the track. It's astro Turf. Quite a good layout

How did it go today?

I was there early 08:00-08:45, but had to leave to head off to paint ball. Looking forward to running next week. Just hope my toe in and camber tools arrive.

I could only make it for a couple of races, but it looked like there were enough people for two full heats (11+). The numbers seem to have been rising ever since I first went there - I wonder if I can take credit .

Neildudman - Quite a few people at the track still run NiMH/brushed setups and do well - there's not too many long straights, so it doesn't seem like you *need* the fastest motors to compete. You can pick up brushed kit for a song, as well. I was doing alright-ish yesterday with a brushed/NiMH setup, and my driving is pretty awful

Fantastic and I'll be there next week along with a friend who has purchased a B4 RTR. Was Ed there and how did he get one Just got to work on the set-up this week as I'm experiencing grip roll at the mo, so gone for micros on the rear and minis on the front minus the outer spikes. Fitted an anti roll bar last night, so will see how it goes.

Paint Ball was wicked (and only up the road), but I wouldn't be in pain today if I'd gone racing....

Yep Ed was there, had a drive of his B4 which seemed to go quite well. Don't quote me on this because i know little about 2wd, but i think the standard tyre setup for b4's at this track is Yellow Mini pins or spikes on the back and staggered ribs on the front (not sure what colour, think yellow).

Edd had changed his car to this and it was loads better that last time i saw him drivinig it.

Cool, I expect he'll be there next weekend as Dan is coming down.

I've got some new staggered ribs in one of my boxes, but no front wheels at the mo. I fitted a rear anti roll bar last night, so will see how that is.

I'll be running a 19x2 stock brushed motor which runs pretty well. Toying with a LRP brushed set-up as I'm about to be put on the callout rota (Callout role is to unplug the firewalls if we have a sustained attack - £2500 a year with no calls in 18 months )

Need to get a PT too as I'm looking at doing regionals if I can get good enough.

Only thing I really really don't like about the circuit... My real car grounds out on the run into the circuit

Ed looked like he was going pretty well when I left. He lifted his front end a bit with some shock spacers (I couldn't even get my little finger under the front of his car before), and it seemed to be handling a bit better.

If you're looking for a cheap upgrade for your stock motor DMS have got Trinity D5s on sale for a mere 25 quid (or 3 for 60). Just picked a 12 single up and it's damn quick for the money .

Cheers for the heads up, I'll be heading to brushless LRP Sphere etc rather than purchasing brushed motors I think. Although my LRP 19x2 is going to be slow....

Cool, fingers crossed Ed will be there next weekend

Is racing on as normal this weekend what with the Bank Hol and all that? I am not local, but in the area for the weekend and would like to pop down. I can't quite make out from the video, is it astroturf surface? What tyres does everyone run in general?

Cheers

Lloyd

Astro indeedy. Ballistic buggy green minispikes, or schumacher green minispikes, yellow minipins if you love a bit of grip roll. That'll be all round on a 4wd, or an a 2wd, them on the back and Schumacher staggered ribs on the front. In the chucking rain, or very wet conditions, Yok TR32s.

Hope to have been of some help

As far as I'm aware, racing is on as normal this weekend, 9 - 12.30. It's astroturf, and people generally run staggered rib fronts and mini pins/spikes rears, all yellow, for 2wd. Not sure about 4wd.

edit: damn, too slow
