Hi
Does anyone know if Durango have purposefully changed the length of the spring in the ball diff in the Dex210? Just building one and noticed the diff spring I have looks a couple of coils longer than the manual pics and some photos online. When fitted it, and adjusted to correct tension, it results in the nut sitting not that far down the outdrive slot. This means the dogbone end sits fairly shallow on that side in the outdrive and means it binds slightly on suspension travel as the dog bone end rubs on the plastic nut housing. Have checked the diff build carefully and all seems correct, just the spring seems too long? Is this a known issue? Have I got the wrong spring in my kit? Shame as other than this the kit has been enjoyable to build (known printed manual errors aside). Many thanks in advance. |

Hi
I have recently built a 210 and have not had this problem, I'm guessing you have the wrong spring.

Once you adjust the diff in anger (rather than on the bench), you will find it needs tightening and therefore doesn't bind. Mine was exactly the same.
This assumes the spring is the correct one! ![]() |

Hi,
the length of the spring was increased quite a long time ago, to stop the T-nut clamping right down on the outdrive. This allows you to adjust the diff tension correctly, without everything binding up. You have to compress the spring a good few times with a pair of pliers, before you put the diff together. Do this and the dogbone will not catch on the T-nut throughout the suspension travel. Craig. |

Hi Craig
I compressed the spring several times fully, I must have the wrong spring as even after this the nut sits about half way down the outdrive slot and the dogbone only just inside. The suspension doesn't move smoothly because of it. Odd. Will investigate more... |

Have ordered a new spring kit as it's definitely a coil longer than in pics/photos. (not mixed up with slipper spring btw).

Thanks Drewdrop. Hopefully just a packing error at Durango. Seemed easier to just buy spare than take it up with them with racing coming up!
