C-Type hubs. 25 or 30 deg?

My son managed to break another one this weekend so I'm considering getting him an ally pair. I understand the kit is 30 deg (from what I've read).

He's not a very advanced driver and we are still learning the basic set-up stuff so I doubt he will need both at the moment, just interested to learn what they do.

a) what angle is being referred to? It can't be the toe in or camber as they are determined by the turnbuckle lengths and 30 deg would be a crazy amount of either of those!! Is it the angle from vertical the pin holding the steering block is?

and
b) what effect on handling do the different holders have?

The angle refered to is castor, and the kit ones are 25 degree.

As a general rule probably more drivers prefer 30 degree as it seems to make the car even more forgiving to drive.

I myself usually go with 25 degree indoors and sometimes 30 degree outdoors

Caster is the angle of the kingpins on which the steering arms pivot, as a general rule more caster gives more initial turn in where as less caster gives more mid-corner steering.... i'd stick with the kit 30 deg ali C hubs

The included c-hubs are 30º. If He is not an experienced driver don´t use 25º, they make the car a little too nervous

So now I'm confused the SMD web site says this:
"these 30 degree C-hubs are the perfect option .... These C-Hubs are also available in a stock 25 degree option."

He's being racing for a while but not regularly and is only just getting reasonable (although that might have something to do with my improved understanding of set-up). He managed an 11 lap heat yesterday, just missing the line for a 12th by a few meters, where previously 7 or 8 was a good run. The better drivers yesterday were doing 12 or 13 consistently, although none of the national level drivers were there of course.

The kit plastic ones are 25 degree, I work for SMD and I've just had a look at a set lol.

The ally ones are available as an optional 30 deg set or kit replacement 25 deg

So yes, by putting 30 deg ones on will make it more forgiving, but looking at what you've said about his results, will it make it too forgiving??

Oops, misread the information, Doh!

At least now I know it's called caster I can find some information about what it's for.
