Cool What wheels will fit an original Ultima with no mods?

Well, I wanted an Ultima, I have two coming!

Sorry for probably asking this when it has been asked a million times!

I am trying to source an original set of wheels however I would like another set for racing.

Cheers

Ryan

The 4mm front axles limit your choice of front wheels, as well as old Ultima wheels you can use Schumacher Cougar 2000 front wheels. By adding the HPI front wheel adapters you can then use any Tamiya 2wd front wheels.

The rears are simpler, Kyosho invented the 12mm hex drive so there are plenty of modern wheels that will bolt straight on.

All tamiya wheels can fit but need the special 4x11 ball bearings

CRP has 2 versions of 5mm diameter axles for the front: standard width and 5mm wider (10 in total).

The J-concepts Rulux wheels for the traxxas 1/16 e-revo will give you more offset than other modern 12 mm hex rear wheels. D-racing also has some wheels for that revo. Both will take 2.2" buggy tires.
The larger offset is more in line with the original wheels and means your car won't loose width when going modern

Thanks all.

So for clarification I can get the Rulux wheels and they will go straight on the rear, I can then get the wider axles for the front, get some bearings and fit Tamiya wheels. What front wheels would match the rears?

Cheers

I use the HPI adapters I linked to earlier, you can then use Tamiya wheels with the kit 4x8mm bearings.
