Iwata Airbrush

I am a beginner and wanting a decent airbrush for lexan shells.

Most Iwata brushes are pretty good. Do you have a compressor to attach it to?

The £12 ish eBay ones are ok for what they are - I bought the one Jon at RCS sells for around £90 and I use this for fine work & details. It's better than the cheap ones - but for £12 it's worth a punt on a cheap one - think you will be surprised

Iwata airbrushes are pretty awesome kit but you do pay with the price, I've heard rumours that the Neo is a rebrand (i.e not Iwata made) and have read some mixed reviews but not having used it cant comment on accuracy of any of the rumours, though at £50ish its pretty darn cheap for a Iwata product.

The cheaper brushes as pointed out above will definately get you started and will give you an idea if airbrushing is for you.

I personally like the Iwata Revolution CR (this is a an all round good brush) and I also have a Iwata Eclipse HP-C (smaller needle etc and for fine details). I'd say the Eclipse is probably a bit overkill for body painting really and most of the time the revolution is more than upto the task.

As with anything practice is key and in the right hands any brush can produce great work.

Funnily enough, I've just bought one of these on a whim (had some Amazon vouchers to use), and it's an amazing brush for the money.

Whilst not quite on a par with my more expensive Iwata brushes, it's really not too far behind at all. It'll spray un-thinned Createx colours with amazing control... I played noughts and crosses on a test shell just to see, but I can also use it with Valejo paints to paint wargames (Games Workshop) miniatures. It's a whole heck of a lot better than the lower prices 'Ebay specials', and even comes with a 5 year warranty and proper spares back up.

This is definitely a fine 'brush for any one starting up, and makes a nice, inexpensive, general purpose brush for even the pro level user. Two thumbs up from me!
