This has been in the works for quite some time, and right off the bat I have to extend huge thanks to James aka Welshy40 for all his help with this which includes the shell which has a bit of history as it was painted by Mark Pavidis' painter and is a genuine ZX-S shell. I am going to fit some more anodised bits and pieces but the anodised bits that are already there (bar the chassis and battery posts) are kyosho works parts.
I'm contemplating putting a few stickers on the wing, obviously now will be going on the shell but I thought a couple on the wing wouldn't hurt, I've included a pic of the ZX-S repro decals for brainstorming and suggestions. The wheels are a set I dyed for the Mid project I have not started yet, not sure what color may match best with the shell, perhaps a set of green wheels, or maybe not Anyhow, on to the pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I really need to pull the finger out and paint the shell on my Turbo Optima Mid Special so the similarities between the two shells is more obvious Which reminds me that I am 99% decided to use a ZX-S shell on the LWB Mid build which I have had in the works for a long time ![]()

Tidy example there. Are those kyosho velvet shocks?
I think some yokomo pink wheels would go well with the shell. Are you planning to install electrics? |

They are velvets
I do have a set of the silver bodies twin cap shocks here as well, I have been contemplating putting those on. I am thinking a set of these velvets may be just the thing for the Mid with the gold wheels This runs the standard Kyosho hexes so I'd have to dye a set of kyosho wheels pink or get some adapters I do plan to install some electrics, I have a Tekin 410K for it so far, and not sure which one of my Kyosho motors I'd put in it, possibly the 480S as it has a blue endbell and writing on the label I'd love to get some vintage cells for it too I really want it to sit a little lower but I guess putting electrics in will fix that

Yeah..you could use adaptors but they are not easy to find.
Maybe some rit dyed wheels would be easier. I must say the velvets suit the zx-s very well. Did you get the car as is or do you plan for a rebuild? I like all your projects so far! |

In terms of electrics I would put a lrp ics for the speedo and sanwa for the rest.
Motor wise a trinity |

Its 99.99% brand new parts
I am planning on getting the gearbox posts anodised blue and a few putting some blue fasteners on it but not sure what else The wheels on it are RIT dyed, I actually have a set I dyed black I might try on it I forgot to take a pic from underneath it also has the blue anodised works kick up plate on it Whats your opinion on putting a couple stickers on the wing? I also have a Kyosho Super Speed ESC but I was saving that for the Turbo Optima Mid Special

Still looks stunning with those shocks on. They are super smooth shocks and not far off what the car originally had in the 90's, only difference is the screw tensioners and thats it.

I'll try and take some better pics on the weekend and get one from underneath
Which stickers would you put on the wing and this might be a stupid question but would you put the ones on the side panel on the inside or on the outside directly over the paint? I'll mock up a couple on the body but I think I'll leave it as is, the paintwork on it is too beautiful to cover any of it up James is right about the detail not being visible. I also only put four small pieces of velcro on the body rather than all the way along so as to not show through the paintwork Debating if I should paint the undertray, maybe a smoked color that I bought for the windows of some of my other projects

Either the K Kyosho or cloud kyosho on the wing either side, the small lazer zxs (next to the cloud) on either side of the body and for the wing its really down to what you want, i mean a lot of the guys had Kyosho and i had for a while but then opted for another sponser on the back wing.

I'd get a stock shell painted up too...that would complement your declas nicely.
Maybe the dragon shell should be left as a shelfer? |

I have a spare shell and sticker set, though not sure how to get the correct wing for it.
This will be a shelfer, too rare and fragile to destroy, and the shell was staying a shelfer either way, the standard shell is rather thin I don't fancy its chances of taking much of a beating So, I am seriously thinking about dying a set of wheels green at this stage I'll try and get some better pictures of the detail on the shell, it really needs to be seen in person What I would like to do is get the rear sway bar for it, is it the same as anything else or does anyone have one by any chance?
