Hi I am New to all this,
Looking at joining the club just for fun, bought a Maverick Ion Xt as a small play toy, which started the ball rolling. Looking for something a little more now, to come and race for fun and also bashing,I think the phrase is, Now I know a little about short course trucks, and rock crawlers, as that's what drew me to the hobby, I am an active member on another forum I really fancy a short course truck 2wd looking at the Traxxas Slash, or Hpi blitz, What is the short course scene like at Goshen, or would I be better going down the buggy scene? And if so I font have a clue with buggys, what's a good starter buggy thats sub £200, there just looks soo many, Cheers for any help

2WD Buggys are the way!
Trucks are few and far between at the moment at Bury. You best of grabbing a buggy for sure. The whole UK scene is pretty big. |

Thanks rapidrubberwill,
If I was not looking to play down at Goshen I prob would I was planning on a visit this Sunday if I can, but think I may go down the buggy route,as I had a feeling the short course was a very limited scene, Just need to pick one,, What about Team Durango DEX210 rtr

For me you should go for the hobao h2 far better car cheaper and the 210 needs a number of essential upgrades to really get it working properly. Go for the hobao h2, and the fact I don't run one shows I'm not bias I just think for the price they're unbeatable and they're quick!

Crutch
The B4.1 is 18 months old, it is in good condition, probably raced 6 times it has an Etronix 9 turn and esc plus loads of factory bits- turnbuckles, bulkhead brace, motor mount etc also 5 sets of wheels and pretty much at least 1 spare for very part of the buggy. If you interested come and speak on Sunday, I will bring all the gear down so you can have a look. Selling because I just moved to 4wd for this season and bought an XB4

To be fair si, how much of those 3 breakdowns were down to poor workmanship as supposed to car failure and to be fair one of the drivers of those hobaos drivers amazingly somehow built the car in rear motor configuration BY MISTAKE?! So I wouldn't go of that..

Thank you for that Gavin, I was going to ask that question, as the hobo is looking a likely contender,

The cvd snapped part way along the shaft, so I doubt thats a workmanship issue more a faulty part. Having read the manual it is rather poor at describing how to build the car rear motor though you would hope to notice it was the wrong way round!
Others were a front upright and a rear wishbone and neither driver had spares (and nobody else had an H2 at all so that ended the day). Its not statistically large enough as a sample to say either way but all I'm saying is that suggesting the H2 is more robust has little supporting evidence either.

Critch,
Silver fox is offering you a pretty good deal there! As you have already eluded too, you don't want to spend before getting advice from the guys at the track. I would be making the effort to get down on Sunday and check out that deal and speak directly with the lads and see the cars. As you can see on here, we are a friendly helpful lot Darren

Ill be running a H2 on sunday.
Not used it in a meeting yet as im just testing, and so far its really nice to drive. I got mine really really cheap to play with to compare with my Sv2. And with a few additions here and there its already easier to drive. Some of the parts are really weak, and some are tough, so once you get past this then there should be no problems. Come over and have a look at mine on sunday before you buy

Mid motor does make a massive difference, but truth be told when you are starting out not hitting the barriers is more important than where your motor is.
Yes, upgrading a B4.1 to mid motor is another £160 but the C4.1 is one of most successful mid motor buggys out there so whilst you can hold off the upgrade at first when you make it it will be worth it. Or you could get the B4.1, run it for a while whilst you learn the ropes, then flog it on and get something else later. This is a good plan because whilst its not as quick as the mid motor cars on our high grip track, the B4.1 is a great car for beginners - tough, easy to setup and look after and nice and stable to drive.
