Hi everyone,
I have a brand new DEX210 gearbox here (note: this is a gearbox from the very first batch of DEX210s) and I'm having a small issue with it. In RM3 setup the gearbox doesn't run freely after I have tightened the motor plate on there. Without the motor plate it is free. I don't tighten it like I'm the Hulk, actually it's tightened in a very subtle manner. The gearbox was shimmed as per suggestion by the manual. The diff gear does seem free as it can still slightly move from left to right. I tried removing a 0.5mm idler gear shim: it doesn't help. It means there is something going on with the slipper shaft/mainshaft. I've just tightened the lot minus the bearing that goes in the add-on gearbox piece between the motor plate and housing and it moves freely. So... it seems the layshaft spacer might be slightly too long? ![]() Has anyone come across the same problem? And what should I do? Shim the add-on gearbox piece until there is no more excessive friction, vile some material off the spacer, get a replacement/uprated spacer and/or contact Durango about the issue? |

It sounds like the gears maybe binding
Is it all freshly greased if so run it to see if its binding after if it is the it maybe durangos error as the shiming on the manual is correct |

What diff are you running?
Ball diff = shims Gear diff= no shims Put a 0.5-1mm (whatever you have) shim between the motor plate and the gear box then you can tighten the screws like the hulk

hi there
i knwo this problem with strong running gears. i have tried 5 gear box cases. two of them allowed to run my gear free. 3 of them i throw away, because the gear runs to tight in it. i never had this kind of troubles with asso b4 |

Also worth checking the screws are not bottoming out on the inside slipper plate. 1 extra washer normally cures this.

What Dan said! I rebuilt mine the other day and because the long gearbox housing screws were too tight the spur wouldn't move freely, back them off a little
