Default Racing Sunday 21st April....

Hi All,

More outdoor racing fun on Sunday 21st April...this time we're having to try something a bit different.

We will now be sharing the days racing with the onroad club.

The decision to TRIAL this has been made by WORM and MMMRC collectively after careful consideration, which we all hope you'll understand.

Why?

The onroad club have have had to cancel their planned racing for this weekend and would like to reschedule, with collective calenders now very busy and full, the only convenient day for this realistically is on our day.

The question of whether the 2 sections can run together on the same day has come a few times already at committee meetings, and we've now got circumstances that mean we're going to test the theory, and see if we can make it work.

If it does, it potentially opens up opportunities for both sections to increase the use of the track and facilities, which can only be good for the club as a whole.

This will not come without compromise obviously, so we're looking for your support and understanding in trying this out on this occasion. If it does cause big problems for either section, then we'll call the experiment a failure, learn from it and not do it again. But the day will go ahead in full with the plans we are putting together to try and make sure the day runs smoothly.

We haven't decided on the running schedules as yet, but are already aware that a number of factors need consideration:

1) Pitting/Parking capacity. The onroad club typically only has 2 heats running on their club days. So space will not be an issue.

2) Noise. The onroad club is nitro racing, so we need to be prepared for either timing the day so our races don't overlap, thus extending the day, or accepting there is noise and running at the same time to keep our schedules our own.

We know the noise is not ideal, but it is what it is. The noise is part of it for nitro racers, as much as it's not for us! We need to be positive and open to ideas here for the good of the club.

We are discussing this with them currently, and are currently favouring and suggesting no overlapping racing if we can make the timings work...since there is likely to be only 2 heats of onroad, we're hopeful it will, so the day would run just like at Tiverton really...just with a bit more noise when the onroad cars are racing

That is all for now, we'll keep you posted on developments.

In the meantime, we know this could be a slightly contentious issue for some, so please keep the discussion positive, and remember we are only trying to do the best for the club and it's future!

I'm looking forward to getting out on track either way...last weekend was great fun!!!

Sounds fair enough to me, if it means that our scheduled Saturday meetings can be moved to Sundays I'm all for it.

In fairness, we tend to have a 10-15 minute gap between rounds anyway. We can use the onroads running as our gap, will just be a bit noiser

don't think noise is a big problem most people are used to the sound of nitro engines and it good fun watching the 1/8th cars doing about a 100mph down the straight lol

Glad to hear your ok with combined meeting idea so far!

The long range forecast for Sunday is looking good...fingers crossed it stays that way :-)

Who's in?

Reckon I'll be good to run 2 & 4wd this week...heat numbers permitting!
