Hello all,
I've been eyeballing the d4 and b44 and finally picked the d4.. And it's scheduled to arrive today. ![]() So have the diff screws been holding up? Sound like that the only real weak point of the car. Anyway, I've snooped around oople quite a few times and figured it was about time to say 'hello' and thanks for all the great info posted on oople. Hello and thanks! |

good choice!
i've been running the D4 (original but with WCE upgrades) for several months now and it has been great. The diff bolts have been fine on mine, just make sure you don't overtighten them as this seems to be the cause of problems. Only recomendation i would make is to pin the slipper clutch up with a second pin so that the front and rear don't work independantly. I found the handling a little unpredictable with the original setting, especially on slippery tracks. If you pin it the car drives far more consistantly.

Thanks for the advice... I'm looking at the manual now and I'm not sure exactly where to pin it.. But I think I'm looking at the original manual covering the non-externally adjustable slipper.. Is this an option or more like a mod?
Thanks |

the WCE slipper should be in your kit. not sure if you have an original manual with a suplimentary sheet. Basically there are two holes in the slipper shaft. In standard mode, only one hole has a pin in to fix one slipper half, the other side is free. Put a pin in the second hole so that the other slipper half is fixed too. Make sure you threadlock the screw in the end of the slipper too as it can back off if not.

I have not had any problem with the updated diff screw.
Make sure to put 4 shims on the backside of the diff gear (2 silver 2 copper). It will be tight at first, but after it breaks in they will be shimmed right where they need to be. I would also seal the edges of the chassis and towers with CA. |

Yeah that makes sense.. The manual I have is a download.. Guessing it's older...
And yup, I always seal the CF with CA.. Makes it look pretty. ![]() 'sigh' ... the delivery is running late... ![]() |
