Default Vega B4.1 Gen 2

Having just got my Vega B4.1 Gen 2 i'm looking to see if there is anything i need to know.

Im starting with this set up from Danny Mcgee:

Front
Oil: 37.5
Piston: Associated 2 Piston
Spring: Big Bore Losi Green
Shock Position:
Inside on the wishbone
Second hole on the tower
Camber Link:
Inside on the tower
Shortest link on the Hub
2mm under the bump steer washer position
Brass bulkhead

Rear
Oil: 30
Piston: Associated 1 Piston
Spring: Big Bore Losi Pink
Shock Position:
Inside on wishbone
Middle on tower
Camber Link:
Second from top on the longest (inside) hole
Middle on the standard 0 degree rear hubs (turned around the make the camber link a bit straighter)
Short Wheelbase
4 degree's antisquat
3.5 degree's toe in

Motor: Tekin 7.5
Speedo: Tekin RS Pro
Gearing: 26/81

Is this roughly what people are using, or is there a base set up other than this?

I also need to know what gearing I should be using. I have a speed passion 6.5 going in.

Paul.

Hi Paul, Yes this is a great base set up, to be honest I havent changed much at all since building my Gen 2.

I run 3mm-4mm under the front inner ball stud indoors on carpet and a Losi BB Blue front spring, the rest is the same.

As for gearing, what spur are you running??

I'm on 78 x 24 on a SP v3 7.5

Here's how I've run my car for some time now, mainly round maritime which is multi-surface so would recommend as a good starting point.

Front:

Shocks:
Vega Protoshocks - (1.4 2 Hole 2 Slot - 32.5wt Losi - Vega Blue Spring) - Currently using
AE V2's (AE No.2 Piston - 35wt Losi - AE Blue) - Was on car previously
Shock Position: Middle on tower, Outer on wishbone
Camber Link: Inside on tower, 3mm under stud, Middle on caster block, 30 Deg Blocks.
2mm under the bump steer washer position
Standard Bulkhead

Rear:

Vega Protoshocks - (1.4 2 Hole 2 Slot - 30wt Losi - Vega Blue Spring) - Currently using
AE V2's (AE No.1 Piston - 30wt Losi - AE Silver) - Was on car previously
Shock Position: Middle on tower, Outer on wishbone
Camber Link: Top hole on middle row on tower, 3rd hole out on 0 degree alloy hubs with top part marked A. (Hubs reversed to straighten link)
Medium Wheelbase
2 degree's antisquat
3 degree's toe in

Motor: HPI 7.5
Speedo: HPI Flux Pro
Gearing: 26/78
Cells in centerline config, 60 odd grams under them aswell.

Gearing for a 6.5 I'd say 24/25 on a 78 spur. Hope that helps!

Cheers guys, i have a 78 spur on so il try around 24/25 pinion?

Does this car have alot of steering? If your adding 3-4mm on the front inner that should take the edge off from what i remember.

I've got it all wired up, i just need a few bits to get it all finished off.

It seems the full size savox servo doesnt want to let my speed passion gt 2 fit in along side it, so i have mounted it on the battery strap for now until i get a low profile servo

Do you get much heat also? the shell seems to be very snug. all holes are currently sealed, but look as though they wouldnt add much anyway!

Vega's run cool Paul due to the heat dissipated through gearbox chassis etc

Yes I raised up the inner ball stud to chill the steering a bit, I found it made it more consistent in the turn, I'm no pro btw!

24/78 sounds perfect on the gearing

Yes a low profile servo is handy when using a big speedo, check out my car in the show me your vega thread as I use a gt2 speedo and savox servo

As for option parts, most of use use the avid or j concepts alloy steering rack and me and Lewis run a brass bulkhead but up to you on this

I'm sure you'll love the car
