Good to see you guys will be up and running this year, can I just ask a question not having a dig or anything far from it....

Where do the entry fee prices come from?

The reason I ask is other clubs in and around the region charge between 4 and 7 pounds for club meetings (outdoor clubs) nationals are £10 as are regionals. From my chats with various clubs etc they are keeping fee's as low as possible to help with members and new members. And these are all successful clubs who have large followings, and have also built the clubs up.

Anyway good to see another track

Hi John,

Many thanks for the question.

At the start if the year we as a Comittee, sat down and discussed the outdoor track, and the part these discussions were the obviously how many meetings can we run without destroying the track.

As we all know all the other tracks in he region run on AstroTurf, whilst we run on grass. We decided on seven, maybe eight full day meetings, with a few club nights should the track hold up. So in reality maybe we will hold fifteen meetings this year.

Then if you consider some of the other clubs in region they hold maybe 60 meeting per year.

I'd imagine, and this a guess that we have similar running costs as the other clubs in the region, but unfortunately we can run far less meetings. What we can do is offer something that no other club can. A grass track, which we as a club need to seed and now throughout the year. We also want to grow and spend any funds we do make on improving the venues that we run.

Our landlord, has if we want allowed us to lay astro, but we feel that at this stage we offer more to the region by running a grass track, than an astro track. If we were to lay astro, we could run all year round, and if we were to do so I'd imagine the cost of racing would be cheaper. We also probably have more land available than any other club in the country.

I don't really want to get into a debate of race fees, as I think as a whole race entries are to cheap, especially when you consider the hundreds as racers we spend on all the best equipment/cars/esc's/etc.

However the most expensive club is £8 per meeting, which is what we're offering our members, and anyone attending can also purchase tyres at a cheaper rate. If anyone wants details of membership then please let me know.

There's a couple of Fridays later in the year when the school is unavailable, so we will run outdoors, should they track hold up well, and we may be able to squeeze a few more in as well.

Unfortunately I can't make the 14th as the FIA World Endurance Championship is at Silverstone on Sunday. However will there still be Friday night indoor racing on the 12th?
