Hi all. Got a brand new shell with a car I brought but the paint is awful. Is there a way I can get the paint off and start again?

Save your time and effort and just buy a new shell! Even after removing it, some of the paint may have stained the lexan or there may be score marks in it etc..
But....if you do want to, then brake fluid works. Pour some in it and soak some paper towels in it and put them in the shell. Leave it 20 mins then scrub and clean. Repeat as needed. Did I mention just buying a new shell? ![]() |

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but buying a new shell is really the easiest way to go... how much is a new shell, £20 if that, do something that makes you £20 cos it will still be quicker than trying to remove the paint. Brake fluid can also weaken the shell, making it brittle.
Did anyone mention yet how much easier it is to buy a new shell.... Can you see a trend starting to form here ??? ![]() |

I'm surprised that no-one has recommended that instead of the hassle, effort and time, you just buy a new shell?

Lol. I have brought a new shell and running with that, but rather than throw away the new bulldog, thought i may be able to save it. Its currently a girly barbie pink, really bad! I will never use it in that colour, so just had an idea to see if i could strip it.
How about nail varnish remover? Thanks for the info and the general consensous of the top tip! |

deffinately don't use nail varnish remover as most contain acetone and this WILL fog the lexan..
