Being the owner of the worlds ugliest black plastic pit-box, I need some serious remedial artwork. Namely stickers.
Picked up a couple of sheets of Polaroid 'sticker paper' whatever that is? Anyone ever used this, or is it crap? What kind of sheets should I be using? Do I need to refinish them after printing? Sheets will be one-offs of various stickers Ive seen on the net, so there will be quite a bit of wastage I would think. Lucas Oil, TORC, mostly short course and 4x4 rock crawling King of the Hammers kinda thing. Please understand from the off that I do not plan to 'sell' anything and the guys who do on here, could suss it pretty quickly on the usual forums. So all tootsies being well avoided, can anyone offer any advice?

Cheers Adam.
![]() I'll have a go none the less, I have problems trying to find time to do the things I want to do, without encroaching on anyones sidelines, but I can see why people would be hesitant at first. ![]() I already have a vinyl cutter, so custom masks for spraying would be a doddle, but I dont do it as theres guys on here doing nicely from it and good luck to em I say! ![]() Same for the stickers, I want to faff around and do my own, but not interested in taking orders, been there done that...no thanks! ![]() I used to make my own pike lures and when the yank jerkbaits became fashionable I made too. They worked great and after a while I was asked to make some, then some shops wanted some and some were even going abroad, but it changes the whole pespective, it becomes a 'job' rather than something you like to do and experiment with. ![]()

I have had a play around with doing some of my own stuff.
Im not sure if its my printer or the vinyl I'm using but black rubs off, so I just cover it with book protection film that is really thin and it works well. I have heard that some printers don't like to play with some sorts of paper/vinyl sheets |

-All the stickers I've made turned out rubbish!..Tried clear film with a clear sprayed top coat but when applied the colours look pale & insipid..tried white film which gave a better result colourwise but the cut edges look 'home-made'
Used inkjet & laser printers with the correct films but as in a previous post found that the black was very inconsistent & came off or didn't deposit correctly. Decided in the end that to do it properly you need an expensive printer (that also prints white) or a friendly local screen printer, neither of which I have! Sorry to sound so negative, most likely Jimmy or Jon (RCS) will join in with some better plan!!!..Cheers, Gord.. |
