Is tamiya releasing the body that Hupo used at the EC?
And the cvd's?

The body is the DB01 Baldre body - you can already buy it seperately and I think DCM on here has bought several for his own fleet of DB01 cars. Once I upload the big gallery you can see it closer and see how he adapted the undertray from the 501X to fit. Not sure if Tamiya will release an alternate undertray for this shell on the 501X but it would be nice.

I think the way Tamiya work is that they send out these development parts to their overseas race team to test - but the real stuff goes on out of sight in Japan. Hupo wasn't sure if the CVD's would be coming or not, he assumed so, but so far I've never heard about their availability.
I think I wrote about the CVD's in the worlds report - so I don't remember their exact reason for this change, but its about performance.

There's rumour of a shaft car and even a 2WD, but still nothing much confirmed.

it isn't a Baldre shell Jimmy, different side pods etc.... it is a new shell.

Ah ok, Hupo told me it was a Baldre I think but maybe I got confused somewhere and since I don't have one I didn't realise this, thanks DCM. This must be the shell from the rumoured new shaft car then There was no undertray and the body was brand new and only cut out at the event so I guess it had only arrived recently from Japan.

Thanks for the information!

I also noticed different coating on the shocks (same as hotbodies wce shocks).

Jimmy, did you get Hupo's set-up?
Did he use the front or center one way?

I think it is designed to give better clearance to brushless units....

When I asked hupo, I assumed it was the Baldre, he said I guess NO it's from the new car - showing how he thought it was for shaft drive. I assumed he meant they made the Baldre shell specially to adapt for the new car (since I still thought it was the baldre and not an entirely new shell) - make of it what you will, I smell a new car coming at some point - can't see it replacing the 501X tho.

Yep
According to Tam USA, the improvement is because they work more efficiently at a wider range of suspension angles.

You need to use different front steering uprights (included in the pack), so to carry spare front uprights also buy 54131!

jimmy,

is there any new news on this?

was thinking of getting the old Dyna Storm as I want to run a Tamiya 2WD, but if there's any news on a New TRF 2WD then i'm going to have to wait.

Cheers

I'll probably end up getting the new hotbodies 2wd D2, and run it until tamiya makes one, anyone else think that 2wd looks cool?

All I know is the 501x is one tough car, raced it for the first time last weekend and didnt break anything but the wing. It's one balllistic beast with that tekin 3T motor I chose. I was able to clear the tripple many times.
It so fast my steering servo cant keep up with it...lol. Probably just needs adjustment.
Steering EPA or whatever. I had a little too much toe in also, so I'll need to fix that also.
40wt oil in front, 35WT in rear seemed about right.

I'll probably look into Hupo's setup, to get the car more dialed in.

I was just about to buy an XXX-CR to take care of my nagging lust for a 2WD buggy, but now I'm just a little too curious to buy one just yet..

has anyone been following the redesigned Dynastorm thread on Tamiyaclub? Some engineers have been creating a really tasty looking conversion kit for the car alot like the Trf202x prototypes.
